Listen to the show on WTBU? Well now you can also read what I think about a lot of the stuff I play, or if you think I'm a bore, but like the setlists, well they're here too. Enjoy.

A Little On The Resurgence of Vinyl

Last year I think I bought about 30 records. If not more than that. There is, in my opinion, no better way to listen to music than on wax, and it's a great thing, in my opinion, that vinyl seems to be coming back.

I don't want to preach the whole one is better than the other thing. There's plenty of places you can go online to swim in that pool. But I do prefer the old 33 & 1/3 RPM experience because that's exactly what it is, an experience.

You put on a record and it's an event. You go buy it and it's an event. You unwrap it, you take a look at the cover art, and it is all part of this awesome ritual. A unique experience. Everyone who likes to listen to music, whatever type, should at least once, listen to their favourite records on a turntable.

Ain't nothing like it.

Keep Jazzin',

Mario

Fall Semester 2009

The show will air in the fall on Sundays from 6PM to 8PM on WTBU.... I'm very excited to get back. We'll probably have some interns and definitely some great new music. I'm just waiting to get back so I can get some of the new releases that have predictably not come out here in Brazil. Steve Kuhn's new CD is in my sights...

Talk to you soon,

Mario

Sorry, again...Serious

So yeah, once again I promised to bring the blog back, and once again it has been an unfulfilled promise.  But you know what, I'm on holiday - or should I say we are on holidays - right now and holidays are a boring time.  Yeah summer (well it's summer for you guys in the northern hemisphere) is great and all, but lets face it: the three months and a half can lead to some tedious times.

So I'll be listening to a lot of music, hopefully compiling some for next semester, if I get the show that is, and all the while contributing to the blog with some of my finds and as usual, my thoughts.

Follow me at twitter, if you don't already, the link is on the feed up in the right corner of the site, but if you want to look by name it's at twitter.com/thesoulfultruth...

So I guess I'll see you around, and please, leave comments! That's how I know I'm not writing to the proverbial cyberspace walls!

Keep Jazzin,

Mario
